STATEMENT: Rep. Dave Min on the 75th Anniversary of Start of the Korean War

Washington, D.C. – In honor of the 75th anniversary of the start of the Korean war, Representative Dave Min (CA-47) issued the following statement: 

“Today marks the 75th anniversary of North Korea’s Communist forces crossing the 38th parallel, engaging Korea in a conflict that would reshape the nation forever. We commemorate the lives lost and the soldiers who fought for peace, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This war has divided families and split communities. As the son of Korean immigrants, I hope that we can establish long overdue peace and eventual reunification in my lifetime because ultimately, the hanin, the Korean people, are one.”

“오늘은 북한 공산당이 38 선을넘어 남한을 침공하여 전쟁을 이르켜 미군이 참전한지 75주년이 되는 날입니다. 우리는 희생된 생명과 평화를 위해 싸운 군인들, 그리고 궁극적인 희생을 치른 군인들을 기립니다. 이 전쟁은 가족을 분열시키고 공동체를 분열시켰습니다. 한국 이민자들의 아들로서 오랜 세월이 지난 평화와 궁극적인 통일을 제 인생에 정착시킬 수 있기를 바랍니다. 왜냐하면 궁극적으로 한국인 한민족이 하나이기 때문입니다. "
