Rep. Dave Min Announces New Leadership Position on the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition

March 17, 2025

Rep. Min will join Rep. Johnny Olszewski (MD-02) to serve as the Co-Chair of the Building Resilient Housing Task Force.

Washington, D.C — Rep. Dave Min (CA-47) announced his appointment as co-chair of the Building Resilient Housing Task Force with the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition. This task force will focus on building out our housing stock in a way that addresses the dual crises of housing affordability and climate change.

“The high cost of housing is one of the top issues facing Californians today,” said Rep. Min. “In Sacramento, and now in Washington, I have always worked to increase access to affordable housing. As a co-chair of the Building Resilient Housing Task force, I will be developing creative solutions to help families of all income levels gain access to housing while addressing the adverse effects of the climate crisis.”

Access to high quality, attainable housing should be a fundamental right, and we need to promote market-based, mixed-income approaches that can meet the needs of families at all income levels. This includes promoting public transportation and workforce opportunities, as well as addressing other issues that impact the ability to find suitable housing, such as food deserts and ballooning insurance costs due to extreme weather events. Buildings are also a major source of climate pollution, and more attention is needed to address decarbonizing the current building stock while also promoting resilience.

The Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) is a coalition of 100 members of the U.S. House of Representatives that was founded in January 2009 to be a focused, active, and effective coalition for advancing policies that address climate change, promote clean energy innovation and domestic manufacturing, develop renewable energy resources, create family-sustaining clean jobs, protect our nation’s air, water, and natural environment, and promote environmental justice.

Before coming to Washington, Rep. Min led the Center for American Progress’s efforts to increase funding for federal affordable housing, and developed proposals to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
