STATEMENT: Rep. Min to Serve on House Oversight & Reform Committee and Natural Resources Committee

January 14, 2025
Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Dave Min (CA-47) was appointed to serve on the House Oversight and Reform and Natural Resources Committees. The following statement can be attributed to Representative Min:

“Too many Americans have lost faith in our public institutions. I’m honored to be in a position to try to help restore that faith, and I’m grateful to my colleagues and to House Democratic leadership for entrusting me with positions on these important committees.

“As a member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, I will continue the fight I’ve been engaged in my whole career to bring greater transparency and fairness to our government and our markets. At a time when many are concerned that the incoming Trump administration—headed up by wannabe oligarchs like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy—will seek to loot the government and rip off taxpayers for trillions of dollars, I look forward to working on behalf of the American people.

“And, with the wildfires bringing devastation to Southern California, I know there is no issue more urgent than wildfire prevention, which must include strong steps towards addressing the climate crisis. On the House Natural Resources Committee, I plan to continue my work to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, cut our carbon emissions, and improve our wildfire resilience. There is no time to wait. We must protect our planet for the sake of the next generation.”

Representative Min has a deep record of standing up to corruption and holding the government accountable. As an enforcement attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Representative Min stood up to corporate greed by holding Wall Street accountable, following the Enron and Worldcom accounting scandals. At the Center for American Politics, Representative Min also developed the legislative proposal to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mae, in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.

In the California Legislature, then-Senator Min chaired the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee and authored numerous climate bills, including legislation to end offshore drilling and decarbonize our economy. Representative Min also led on wildfire prevention legislation and secured over $30 million for his district to prevent wildfires.
