WATCH: Amid Mounting Evidence of Misconduct, Rep. Dave Min Slams DHS Secretary Kristi Noem For Her Obstruction of Oversight
Rep. Min: “When you break the law, whether you’re a federal agent or not, you are subject to the consequences [...] we have to start enforcing that rule of law”
Washington, D.C. — In a new video, Representative Dave Min (CA-47) called on DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to stop stonewalling and provide long-overdue answers into the abuses of her agents, sharing his letter that 21 members of Congress joined to condemn ICE agent misconduct and demand oversight. Read the letter here.
This letter comes three months after Rep. Min sought answers from the DHS into the lawlessness of ICE, CBP, and DHS agents. The DHS Inspector General refused to comply, deferring questions to Sec. Noem.
“These incidents suggest that DHS and its components are carrying out what amounts to militarized operations on U.S. soil, targeting vulnerable communities [...] Your Department's continued silence only deepens public concern that these abuses are being condoned from the top,” wrote Rep. Min.
The letter was signed by Representatives Goldman (NY-10), Schneider (IL-10), Chu (CA-28), Davis (IL-7), Schakowsky (IL-9), Mullin (CA-15), Sanchez (CA-38), Tran (CA-45), Quigley (IL-5), Simon (CA-12), Jackson (IL-1), Cisneros (CA-31), Lofgren (CA-18), Carbajal (CA-24), Casten (IL-6), Kelly (IL-2), Correa (CA-46), Kamlager-Dove (CA-37), Vargas (CA-52), Rivas (CA-29), and Bynum (OR-5).
