STATEMENT: Rep. Min Walks Out of Joint Address After Pres. Trump Vaccine Lies

March 4, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Dave Min (CA-47) walked out of President Trump’s joint address to Congress due to the President’s repeated lies. The following statement can be attributed to Representative Min:

“As the father of three young kids, I am outraged by the false claim that vaccines cause autism. Kids are going to die because of this lie. I could not stand by and listen to another minute of President Trump’s lies – I had to walk out. Vaccines save lives.

“But this was one of hundreds of lies. President Trump lied about the economy and Social Security and so much more. But he also failed to address the main issues my constituents care about – how to create economic opportunity, his proposed $880 billion cuts to Medicaid, and his (and Elon Musk’s) relentless attacks on our democracy.

“The theme of Trump’s speech tonight was ‘Renewing the American Dream,’ but what was clear after listening to him tonight is that this dream is only available for billionaires. I know firsthand that the American dream is only made possible when we create economic opportunity, celebrate immigrants and diversity, and protect our freedoms and the rule of law – the polar opposite of President Trump’s agenda. That is why I will continue to stand up to President Trump – I will never stop fighting to give everyone a fair shot at the American dream.”
