Representative Dave Min Stands Up For The Rule Of Law, Demands Donald Trump Release Jerome Powell Letter

July 17, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Following news reports of President Donald Trump showing off a draft letter firing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to House Republicans, Representative Dave Min (CA-47) sent a letter to Acting Archivist of the United States, Marco Rubio, asking for answers on the existence of this letter and demanding that it be provided to Congress as required under the Presidential Records Act (PRA). Given Trump’s routine violations of the PRA during his first term, it is imperative he provide this letter to Congress to ensure transparency and accountability of the Executive Branch. No one, not even the President, is above the law. As a former lawyer, Rep. Min continues to stand up for the rule of law and demand oversight for the American people.

“The preservation, access, and management of [Presidential] documents are vital to ensuring transparency and accountability across the Executive Branch. At the same time, President Trump has a well-documented history of violating the PRA and destroying documents, raising serious questions about whether he is continuing to violate the law by not preserving and filing this letter and other important documents from his second term,” wrote Rep. Min. He continued, “Given this trend, it is imperative that you, acting in your role as Acting National Archivist, take all appropriate measures to ensure that President Trump is complying with the law and preserving all Presidential documents, including the Powell letter, in accordance with the Presidential Records Act.”
