STATEMENT: Rep. Dave Min Condemns Detainment of Hundreds of South Koreans At Hyundai E.V. Plant

September 5, 2025

Irvine, CA — Following news reports of a raid conducted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where nearly 500 workers, mostly South Korean citizens, were detained by ICE, Rep. Dave Min (CA-47) released the following statement:

“I’m deeply disturbed to hear reports that hundreds of workers, including multiple lawful permanent residents, were detained at a Hyundai manufacturing plant in Georgia this morning, and I am increasingly concerned about the Trump administration’s indiscriminate and seemingly racially motivated targeting of immigrants.

“This raid will not just sow fear and increase xenophobia, it will also harm our economy and our manufacturing sectors. Hyundai Motors has invested billions of dollars in American manufacturing, and these shocking actions will certainly disincentivize other foreign companies looking to relocate any of their operations to America. My staff and I are closely monitoring the situation and we will continue to demand answers.”

The raid was reported at a news conference by the Department of Homeland Security at a construction site for an electric vehicle battery plant in Ellabell, GA Friday morning.
