Irvine, CA — Representative Dave Min (CA-47) announced $3.2 million in federal grants from the Department of Health and Human Services for research at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). This funding will aid projects on heart and vascular disease research, aging research, and oral diseases research.

“I’m pleased to announce over $3 million in federal grants for research at UCI,” said Rep. Min. “UCI is home to some of the brightest minds in our nation whose cutting edge research helps save lives. I’ll continue to work to guarantee UCI receives the funding it needs to propel us into the future.”

“We are grateful for Congressman Min's support of these three federal grants, especially amidst the ongoing challenges surrounding federal funding for academic research,” said Aileen Anderson, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor for Research at UCI. “These funds will allow UC Irvine to fuel innovation, empower our dedicated researchers, and pave the way for transformative discoveries that will continue our cutting-edge research that serves as an economic engine and inspires progress far beyond."

The projects include:

  • $2,220,145 from the National Institute on Aging for Aging Research.
  • $589,135 from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research for Oral Diseases and Disorders Research.
  • $392,500 from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute for Heart and Vascular Diseases Research.
